Bredenoord.
A new website that helps business customers find the right temporary energy solution.
A new website that helps business customers find the right temporary energy solution.

Bredenoord supplies mobile and temporary energy solutions, from a single generator to large-scale tailored projects. It wanted to be seen as more than a supplier: as an advisor and expert in the energy transition. The new website had to help visitors make a confident choice, generate better leads through a simple inquiry process, and show Bredenoord as an attractive employer. A new website was the natural next step to bring that ambition to life online.
Our expert review of the existing website brought the most important challenges to light:
Bredenoord designs, delivers and maintains its own energy solutions, and combines the expertise of a large company with the no-nonsense, personal approach of a family business. It serves business customers in the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. In a product vision workshop with the Bredenoord team, we identified different target groups. Among business customers, there are two main groups: technical specialists who know exactly which generator they need, and visitors who are still exploring and need guidance towards a fitting solution. Bredenoord was also looking for new employees, so the website needed to position Bredenoord as an attractive employer and give job seekers a clear overview of its vacancies.
What they all have in common is that they want reliable advice at any moment in their journey, and quick access to an expert when needed. The website needed to offer enough depth for technical users, while staying clear and easy to follow for everyone else.
Vision statement from the workshop“With an intuitive experience the site helps you to understand your options, and guides you to the best solution for your needs. With quick access to our experts, we ensure you take the next step with confidence.”

This was a team project at Soda Studio, where I worked as UX designer alongside a lead senior UX designer and a visual designer. We started with a product vision workshop with the Bredenoord team, an expert review of the existing website and a benchmark of how competitors present their products. From these insights, we wrote a vision statement and set up a new sitemap. Our visual designer refreshed the branding and then built the components for a design system. With these, we worked out the concept and detailed design of the whole website, fully responsive. We worked in sprints of two weeks. In a kitchen review, we showed a small group of stakeholders what we were working on, and in a demo we presented our progress to a larger group. Both moments gave us valuable feedback to improve the design. At the end, we created a clickable prototype to help the development team build the website.

A complete new website, from vision statement to realisation. The new structure and product pages help both technical and non-technical visitors find the right energy solution, with an expert always within reach. Bredenoord now presents itself online as the advisor it wants to be.
